198 - Neighbourhood Knockout..explained 🤔
It’s been a week since we announced our inaugural Neighbourhood Knockout Tournament—and we’ve had a lot of feedback already...
😬 Turns out we could’ve been more clear that the neighbourhoods selected for this year’s tournament were chosen because their names had something in common with another neighbourhood’s name (eg. Old North vs Old South, Downtown vs Midtown, Stoney Creek vs Stoneybrook etc.).
It’s also worth underscoring that this year’s winner is going to be decided by luck/fate.1
First Round: We’ll roll dice, with highest number determining the winner 🎲
Sweet 16: A sudden-death 🤚👊✌️ match will determine the winner
Elite 8: We’ll ask the Magic 8-Ball® who would win between X and Y ✨
Final Four: Well draw cards, with the highest number winning (Aces will be high) ♠️
Championship Match: We’ll draw the winner out of a hat! 🧢
👉 With all that said, here’s how to take part!
Fill it out and tag us in a post on Instagram (or send us a photo) before Friday, March 31st
The tournament runs (on our Instagram) the first week of April. If you pick the winner, you’ll be entered in a draw for a prize-package inspired by the winning neighbourhood (valued at ~$100!!💰).
If anyone manages to pick a perfect bracket 🤯: we’ll forgo the draw altogether and lobby to have the city present you the key to the neighbourhood! 🗝
Best of luck! 🤞

The plan is to get an actual selection committee in place for next year’s tournament and incorporate votes or neighbourhood challenges for each match…but we figured priming the pump with something equal parts funny and random for this year would be a good way to get those competitive juices flowing! 🥊
