While there’s a lot of local activities planned for the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we wanted to highlight a few particular events with this edition of The Localist.
🧡 Orange Shirts from Rezonance/Flourish and Grow
The initial run of Rezonance’s collaboration with Flourish and Grow on this year’s Orange Shirt went fast… but we were stoked to see they’ve made more available for pick-up (TODAY!) at their shop. For more on the design itself, check out this interview with artist Mikaila Stevens.

➡️ Beyond NDTR: ReconciliACTION
Atlosha Family Healing Services and Western’s Office of Indigenous Initiatives have partnered to run a month’s long speaker series that wraps this Monday, October 3rd with a conversation on "what it means to truly reconcile, build good relations, and make space for collective healing, reclamation and reparations.” 👉 Register here .

🏞 Gathering on the Green
The Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians, Atlohsa Family Healing Services, Chippewa of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre will be running a full slate of events to mark the day down on the Green in Wortley Village. The Lighting of the Fire takes place at 7am before the main gathering runs 10am-3pm with Language Sessions, an Elders’ Tent, Education booths, food vendors and more. 👉 Check out the full schedule here .

🎨 “We Are Still Here” Mural Unveiling
The N’amerind Friendship Centre, the City of London and the London Arts Council are excited to unveil a new, two-story mural from Ojibwe educator and visual artist Mike Cywink, Indigenous youth artists and Residential School Survivors. Things get going around 2pm and all are welcome to attend. 👉 More details here .
