With Richmond St. currently standing in for 1970s New York, we figured the timing was perfect to feature this piece of punk rock history from London’s Demics.
Released in 1979, “New York City” poked fun at bands heading south of the border in search of fame and fortune…which made it all the more ironic when local success drove the band east along the 401 to Toronto’s growing punk scene. 🤦♂️
