134 - Earth Day, every day 🌎
It’s April 22nd—which means it’s also Earth Day. What better way to celebrate the occasion than a list dedicated to some easy ways we can make every day Earth Day here in the Forest City. Special thanks to the London Environmental Network’s for all the help on this one! 🙏
Get Filthy 🚯
If you’re like us, you’re likely outside most days for a regular walk around the neighbourhood. Why not take along a bag for your next lap and use it to collect any trash you notice en route? If it’s Friday, join the party on Instagr*m and post your haul with #FilthyFridays!
Get Lit 💡
One of the easiest ways to make immediate reductions in your household energy use is to switch ALL your bulbs to LED. While you’re making the switch, why not pick a local beverage to enjoy? Drinking locally supports the local economy and reduces travel miles. Organic options like Booch’s Blue Mermaid and/or The London Brewing’s Co-Ops Front Porch Organic IPA are as easy to drink as they are on the planet.
Get Fit 🚲
London’s #1 source of emissions comes from personal vehicle use. So kick that car to the curb and explore the forest on foot or by bike with a little pedal power. It’s good for the earth and your health!
Get Educated 🎧
Looking to learn more about the environment and some of the challenges we/it are facing these days? Check out the London Environmental Network team’s top book, documentary and podcast picks.
Get Planting 🌱
Got a green thumb already? Why not add some native plants to the mix this year?! They provide habitat, sequester carbon and look beautiful.
Get It Right ♻️
It costs the City (and residents!) over $250,000 annually for incorrectly sorted recycling. Download the Recycle Coach App to get it right everytime. Hot tip for the pizza lovers: greasy cardboard CANNOT be recycled!
Get Political 🗳
The greenest choice you can make? Put people in power who care about the environment and show ‘em you care about their track record in whatever way you’re most comfortable—be that voting, volunteering, donating, protesting, or even running for office yourself!
