059 - Neon'tastic 🕶️
All this ice and snow finds us drawn to the glow of neon. And while the city may not be as lit as it once was—there are signs of brighter days ahead. Here’s a list highlighting some of our favourites.
🍕 Pepper-neon-i
Pizzaria Madre has been sporting this mother of a sign since recently opening on Wellington St. It’s blue, it’s icy, and the way that “A” zigs where it could zag is enough to keep us transfixed while enjoying any one of the joint’s naturally leavened pizzas.
💦 Lime Light
We have no idea whether neon produces any amount of Vitamin D or not, but basking in the glow of Juicy Tings' neon sign gives us all the summer vibes one could ask for during this time of year. Pair the experience with one of their citrus-infused sips and you’re pretty much on the beach.
🦀 Piercing Light
Hankering for some ink? Follow the light emanating from this sign straight to the Neon Crab Tattoo and Piercing.
🤘 In the Spotlight
Promising a look inside “the layered and complex world of being a female in the music industry,” Museum London’s "Women to the Front" exhibition also features this stellar piece of neon rock n’ roll!
😎 Kool Light
This London Institution “isn’t as bad as it used to be,” with more than a few nooks and crannies to settle into and enjoy a pint or three with friends and/or colleagues and/or the rest of the city. The neon sign out front also takes home 1st prize for most strategically busted.
👻 Ghost Light
It’s light may be faded and gone, but the Hudson’s sign still hangs proud as ever over the gateway to Old East Village.
🍩 BONUS: With Sprinkles
If there’s an opportunity to feature doughnuts of any kind, we’ll do it. Thanks, Neighbourhood Laundromat Café.
