058 - Get Involved 💭
Remember the last municipal election when most people had an opinion on how London should look, act, and operate? Remember when everyone had a belief about BRT? While the election may be over, the City of London still wants to hear your ideas about major decisions. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, so check it out.
🚗 You're My Wonderland
Wonderland Road has become synonymous with “bad traffic” (and by bad, we mean horrible). It is one of London’s most-used transportation arteries, and it’s expected to get even more clogged as the city grows. At this point, the city is collecting feedback for an upcoming development. If you’re curious about the relationship between this project and cycling infrastructure, contact London Cycle Link.
🚴 Bikes on Dundas
London Cycle Link has been thinking about this topic for a while, and the city is starting to make some moves, too. The future of cycling infrastructure on Dundas St. is wrapped up in the Old East Village Dundas Street Corridor Secondary Plan, which also includes infrastructure renewal and transit changes. There’s an upcoming Public Meeting, and folks can contribute feedback online.
🚲 Sharing is Caring
The city is in the very early phases of considering a bike share program for London. As they develop a viable business case, they’d like your feedback through this quick online survey. How lovely would it be to cycle the city without fear of your own bike getting stolen?
🚇 Moving in Masonville
The City of London has an official plan; this document is a guide for all by-laws and planning policies in the city from now until 2035. It’s a big deal! It also has affiliated secondary plans that map out certain aspects of the official plan in greater detail. One of those secondary plans is the Masonville Transit Village Plan. You can use the interactive maps to give your feedback.
📑 More Plans!
It’s a little confusing, but London has an official plan (for urban planning purposes) and a strategic plan (for governance, leadership, and administrative purposes). The City is redeveloping their strategic plan from now until 2023, and they want to hear from you on topics like vision and mission statements, outcomes and expected results, and much more. Share your feedback online and review what other Londoners have said, too! Be sure to click through all the tabs.
