038 - Watch and Learn đ
People watching doesnât have to be creepy. In fact, taking time to sit and observe your city can increase your curiosity and your compassion for the people you share it with. While city life moves fastâmaking it difficult, at times, to encounter our neighboursâhereâs a list of some perfect places to pause, to watch, and to learn from the people around us.
đ´ Fork of the River
As you stroll or roll down the TVP just west of the Forks, youâll notice the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial. On the north side of the trail from that sign is a break in the trees that reveals what is perhaps the most postcard-perfect image of London: The Walter J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain erupting in front of the river, the skyline, the TVP, and Labatt Park. With a view like this, your heart for this place will grow three sizes.
đş Chaucerâs Patio
Tucked just far enough away from the Dundas Place construction, the patio at Chaucerâs is the ideal location for downtown observations and great fare. Sharing a close proximity to the new Fanshawe developments, LTC transfers, and general DT bustle, thereâs always a beautiful blend of people in the area.Â
đ˘ One London Place
At 113.4 meters tall, One London Place is our cityâs tallest tower, so, of course, its upper levels offer an unparalleled perspective of London. After seeing the city from above, youâll finally understand why its called the Forest City, and you'll be inspired to explore it more closely. You can also see some of the cityâs most notable heritage structures in new light, like the Dominion Public Building and the London Life Building.
đł Victoria Park
While anywhere in Victoria Park is good for people watching, the northwest corner near the tank is the best. From here, youâll have a clear view of the bandshell, the Williamâs Cafe parking lot, and all the pedestrian traffic around Central and Richmond. Plus, Vic Park has a constant stream of public eventsâlike the Lighting of the Lights, various protests, and Home County Music and Arts Festâthat draw tourists, suburbanites, and core-dwellers alike.
