024 - Eat Your Greens đż
Parents have been saying it since forever, but this time of year makes it easierâand more deliciousâto get your daily dose of fruits and veggies! Hereâs some of our favourite ways to experience all the goodness London has to offer.
đ± Grow Together
Urban agriculture is taking off in London, with many spacesâincluding Urban Roots and various Food Forestsâencouraging communities to participate. If you thought sharing a meal was a connective experience, just wait until that meal includes food that you grew together!
Â
đMmmmmarkets!
Weâve hyped up Trails End Market before, and youâve probably heard of the Western Fair Market (Saturdays) and the Covent Garden Market (Thursdays and Saturdays), but did you know that Masonville has a market on Fridays? Strawberry season wonât last forever, so get out there pronto! To bring the market to your door, sign up for a Community Supported Agriculture box from one of Londonâs fine farms.
đGet Served
London Fuse features a thorough list of stand-out places to get veggie-centric cuisine in the city. This list includes the Root Cellar and Plant Matter Kitchen/Cafe/Bistroâtwo businesses that put in a special effort to locally source their produce. For a limited time, Growing Chefs! Ontario is also back with their legendary pizza nights, featuring plenty of local greens.
đ GYOG (Grow Your Own Greens)
Cultivate your own green thumb with support from the garden gurus at Urban Harvest Landscape or Wildcraft Permaculture. Food canât get any fresher than when itâs picked from your own yard! The City of London, the Garden Club of London, and the London Fanshawe Horticultural Society are just a few other organizations that will help you blossom into a successful gardener.
â ïž Special Request!
Weâre two weeks away from the mid-way point of 2018, and we are planning to mark the occasion with List #26: Subscribersâ Suggestions!
If thereâs an experience that you think we shouldâve included in any of the lists weâve published so far, let us know with a reply to this email, and weâll correct our oversight!
Next week:Â Kids!
