020 - #519Day 🎉
Since mathematicians have March 14 (3–14), and stoners have April 20 (4–20), we propose Londoners take May 19 (5–19) to celebrate our hometown. Sure, Windsor threw a few parties last year, but we share the area code, and they don’t seem to be up to much this year anyway. So, with a nod to WIN CITY, here’s a few ways to experience London on our first #519Day!
👕 Get Geared Up
Celebrating in style has never been easier with so many local artists and designers working out of the Forest City. For #519Day, we suggest suiting up with something from Me & C’s “Places” series, rTraction’s Local Landmarks, or anything from your favourite London sports team. We may even have a few of our own “519” shirts and hoodies available for new patrons :)
🍺 Raise a Glass
Pull up a seat and tip back a Capital Blonde Ale at Forked River Brewing Company, or grab some 50 to go (from London’s oldest brewery) and toast the Thames from shore.
👯 Welcome Some New Neighbours
What better way to celebrate the city than by throwing a block party or by inviting your neighbours over for dinner? And with more newcomers to the city on their way, there’s at least a thousand other ways to roll out the welcome mat.
✅ Check Something Off the List
Still not sure how to celebrate? Take a look through the Localist’s archives, pick something you’ve yet to experience, and tag your celebration with #519Day. We can’t wait to see what you get up to!
Next week: Getting dramatic...
