019 - Places We Don't Visit Enough đ
We wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate one of the first weekends of this long-awaited spring with a list of places we donât visit enough. Coincidence: this Sunday is also Motherâs day...so grab your Mom (who you also likely donât visit enough!) and head out for a stroll at one of these all-too-often ignored gems.
đ North - Western University
Burst the âWestern Bubbleâ and experience one of Londonâs best kept secrets. Whether youâre a stargazer, art lover, pub-aficionado (Tuesday trivia anyone?), movie buff or enjoy tailgating from time-to-time, Western is a community-within-a-community that we donât visit enough.
Â
đ East - Trails End Market
Saturday mornings are always busy here and here, but what about some love for this long-time Eastend staple? Many of us have fond childhood memories of this marketâs bushels of vegetables, and schemes to spend our allowance at the chicken auctionâbut we need to make more of an effort as adults to visit this unique London experience. We mean, you can buy a whole flat of mangos for the low, low price of $5!
Â
đ South - Glanworth Library
Wait, Glanworth has a library? Whereâs Glanworth again? Thatâs two perfect excuses to visit the cutest branch in the city. Head there on a Saturday to make sure itâs open, then take a detour on the way back to visit another South London experience: Spicerâs Bakery in Lambeth. Fresh gourmet donuts come out of the oven at 10am, with day-olds just a fraction of the price.
Â
đď¸ West - Downtown Byron
Whether you get there on the Thames Valley Parkway, or make a stop when youâre just passing through, the core of Downtown Byron feels like a small town far away from the big city that is London. Stroll down the Main Street, or grab a coffee and head to Springbank Park. Our favourite part? Getting lost.
Â
đď¸ Out of Town - Weldon Park & Sharon Creek
If youâre looking to get out of the city but not venture too far, we suggest heading North to Weldon Park, or south to Sharon Creek (R.I.P. Tire Swing). As retreats from the busyness of city life, both of these natural areas are a stones-throw from town.
