018 - Where To See Old Stuff 👀
There’s something about the weathered and worn that keeps us coming back for more. So, with a glance over our shoulders, here’s a list of ways to experience some of the oldest stuff London has to offer.
🦎 London Children's Museum
Check out the Dinosaur Gallery at London Children’s museum—where there’s fossils to dig up and daily activities (including Dinosaur Yoga) for kids of all ages to enjoy. Don’t have kids? Stop by on Saturday May 26th as numerous indie bands take over the space to close out the 9th annual Grickle Grass Festival (in support of Growing Chefs).
🍳 The Bag Lady
Surround yourself with retro pop-culture ephemera from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s at this beloved all-day breakfast favourite. The “Bag”els (their pun, not ours) are on point, and you can’t go wrong choosing from the city’s best selection of Pop Shoppe flavours.
⚾ Labatt Memorial Park
Buy yourself some peanuts and cracker jacks as the London Majors celebrate their 2018 home opener on Friday, May 11 at the historic Labatt Memorial Park—the oldest baseball diamond in the world (as verified by Guinness).
🛍️ Filthy Rebena
You can be sure to turn heads (back in time) with pretty much anything off the rack of this quality vintage clothing shop on Dundas. Need we say more?
🌌 The Cronyn Observatory
Searching for the oldest stuff London has to offer? Look no further than the celestial objects visible through the The Hume Cronyn Memorial Observatory’s telescope at Western on Saturday nights from 8:30-11pm. Cloudy? No problem: you can still check out a lecture or see old stuff in their 1940 and 1967 period rooms!
Next week: Places we don’t visit enough.
