009 - Shake It Up 🍸
Mixed drinks can be a mixed bag, so here’s a toast to the city’s most spirited experiences. Whether you enjoy the most complex of concoctions or the simplicity of a Red-Solo® cup filled with Jack and a squirt from the soda gun, we trust that the following experiences will wet your whistle.
🐺 Wolfe Pack
Drop into any one of the Wolfe brothers’ restaurants (Early Bird, Los Lobos, Nite Owl, Wolfe of Wortley) and you’ll be treated to an excellent cocktail menu. Mixed right with top shelf liquor and attention to tradition, their plays on the classics always impress. Like it neat and tidy? Sample unique whiskeys with a three drink “flight”.
🐶 The Runt Club
The Runt Club’s patio is one of the best come summertime, but things are just as cozy inside where there’s always fresh popcorn popping, a bartender with a few tricks up their sleeve, and a selection of drinks to fit the atmosphere. We’ve been told that a secret cocktail menu might exist here, so if you’re feeling adventurous, drop on in and find out. If you do, share your find on Twitter and tag #localistdrinks.
Little known fact: popcorn pairs wonderfully with bourbon.
🦌 Hunter & Co.
We’ve already spent quite a bit of time eating and drinking at this new establishment and (no judging) exploring the drink menu, so we’re confident to suggest the following:
Order “The Best Grilled Cheese” (which lives up to its name) and the Bacon-Wrapped-Bacon
Let the bartender choose the drink.

🍁 "The" Legion
It's a Canadian classic for a reason. Grab a stiff rye and ginger—and a seat at a euchre table—and spend some time at your local Legion. You might even win something for the BBQ.
⭐ Che Restobar
Recently renovated and re-opened, Che has always impressed us with their deep wine list and equally legitimate Central American menu. We suggest the Pisco sour or mojito from this latin-infused joint.
🏠 Your Place
Who says you need to go out to experience cocktail nirvana? Invite a few friends over with instructions on what bottle to bring, snag some bitters and mixers from Durty Kurty, and get experimenting. Not sure where to start? Enroll in a mixology class or drop by the Bud to see how the pros mix it.
🍻 BONUS!!!
For those who limit their mix to hops, barely and water, make sure to swing by the old Novack's building (211 King) this Friday and Saturday night for Forest City Beer Fest's Pop-up Bar. They will be featuring 20 local beers & ciders, #dadrock, and dj sets.
